Privacy policy
What this site collects, why, who else handles it and how long it is kept. In short: what you type into the form or the chat is used to reply to you. Nothing tracks you, and nothing is sold.

Data controller
MRKA Digital is run by Marcus Amberton, a sole trader based in Bournemouth. I decide how the personal data this site collects is used, which makes me its controller under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
For anything on this page, email hello@mrka.digital.
Enquiry form
The free marketing review form asks for your name, email address and postcode, and optionally your website, the service you are interested in and a note. When you send it, those details are emailed to my inbox so I can look at your site and reply. They are not added to a mailing list and are not used for anything else.
Website chat
The chat on this site is an AI assistant. Its replies are written by Claude, a model made by Anthropic, so each message you send is passed to Anthropic to produce the reply. Under its commercial terms, Anthropic does not use those messages to train its models.
The conversation is stored, in Cloudflare's Western Europe region, so it carries on if you move between pages and so I can read it and follow up. A conversation can be continued for 24 hours. If you ask to be contacted, the name, email address, phone number and anything else you give are saved as an enquiry and emailed to me with the conversation.
To stop the chat being abused, the site keeps a scrambled code made from your IP address, not the address itself, and uses it only to limit how many conversations one visitor can start in an hour.
Please do not put anything in the chat that you would not put in an email.
Spam protection
The form and the chat use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a person, not a bot, is sending them. Turnstile reads technical information from your browser to do that. Cloudflare's own privacy policy covers how it handles that information.
Hosting and fonts
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, it handles your IP address and basic details of each request in order to deliver the pages, and keeps short-lived logs for security and fault-finding.
The site's fonts load from Google Fonts, so your browser sends your IP address to Google when a page opens.
Cookies and browser storage
This site sets no cookies of its own and uses no analytics or advertising trackers. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies to protect the site from attacks.
The site keeps three small items in your browser's own storage. None of them identify you or are sent anywhere.
- Whether you have switched motion off, so the setting is remembered. Kept until you clear your browser data.
- Whether the opening logo animation has already played on this visit. Deleted when you close the tab.
- The reference for a chat you have open, and whether the chat panel was open, so it continues across pages. Deleted when you close the tab.
Legal basis
- Replying to an enquiry or a chat request: taking steps you have asked for before we might work together (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b)).
- Spam protection, chat limits, security logs and keeping chat transcripts: my legitimate interest in running the site securely and following up the enquiries it receives (Article 6(1)(f)).
Retention
Enquiries and chat conversations are kept for up to two years from the last contact, then deleted. If you become a client, they are kept for as long as we work together and for six years after, which is how long business and tax records have to be kept.
Service providers
These companies handle your data on my behalf. None of them is allowed to sell it or use it for advertising, and neither do I.
| Provider | Role |
|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Hosting, the form and chat handling, chat storage, spam protection and delivering enquiry emails |
| The email inbox enquiries arrive in, and the site's fonts | |
| Anthropic | Writing the chat's replies |
International transfers
Cloudflare, Google and Anthropic are based in the United States, so your data may be processed outside the UK. Those transfers rely on the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK–US data bridge or the UK's international data transfer agreements.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the data I hold about you, and ask me to correct it, delete it, stop using it or send it to you in a portable form. You can also object to my using it on the basis of legitimate interests. Email hello@mrka.digital and you will get a reply within one month. There is no charge.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how your data has been handled, please tell me first so I can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes
If what the site collects changes, this page changes first. The date at the top says when it was last updated.
